BYZANTINE MOSAIC HALL — A GILDED CHAMBER, BIBLICAL SCENES RUNNING WALL TO CEILING. Luna points toward one mosaic; Cosmo, Nova and Stella turn to look, books in hand. Cosmo sees the grand picture and feels small beside it. Then he steps close, the way Luna's pointing finger asks him to, and the grandeur dissolves into thousands of tiny separate tiles — each one a single, modest, square decision. The heaven on the wall was never made by a genius with a brush.
