Cosmo stands on a globe pedestal and peers into a giant brass telescope, expecting a distant nebula, a far cold thing. Instead the lens holds a smiling face — warm, close, looking back. Stella turns a golden armillary sphere; Nova drifts among orbiting planets. The instrument built to find what is most far away has done the cosmist's favourite trick: it has discovered that the observer is part of the cosmos being observed. You cannot point at the universe from outside it. The smile in the lens is the universe noticing it was being looked at, and being delighted. 💡 THE INSIGHT: Look far enough out and the cosmos looks back.
