Cosmo and Stella stand inside. The twist is what the two windows are doing. Cosmo looks up: one window holds the sun, one holds the moon, and they sit in the same wall, in the same chapel, lighting the same checkerboard floor. He expected opposites to quarrel. They do not. The floor is checkered — light square, dark square, light square — and it is not a battlefield, it is a pattern, and the pattern needs both.
