Beneath them, it isn't quiet at all: Nova stands at the center of a luminous mycelial web, root-tendrils streaming from her in every direction, Cosmo floating above in wonder. The surface took all the credit — the green, the calm, the view. But the burrow reveals the truth: every visible thing up there is fed by an invisible network down here, all connection, all unglamorous work. The roots do not perform.
