The setting is built for noir gloom — the lonely figure, the cold rain, the indifferent city. The twist is Stella herself: she isn't hunching against the weather. She's lit up, easy, almost luminous, the warmest thing on the whole street. The alley didn't get to decide her mood. She brought her own light and the rain just had to deal with it. 💡 THE INSIGHT: You can't choose the weather you're standing in.
