Cosmo crouches to touch a large bronze rose, and follows its stem down to where it grows — straight out of a tangle of clockwork gears. Nova hovers nearby in the misty copper garden. Cosmo expects a contradiction: gears are cold, mechanical, finished things; a rose is soft and alive. Surely a flower rooted in a machine is a sad joke, metal pretending to bloom. Then he looks again. The rose is not pretending. It has genuinely grown — out of, through, and despite the gears, using the old machine as soil. The clockwork did not kill the garden. The garden simply decided the machine was just another thing roots can hold, and bloomed anyway. 💡 THE INSIGHT: A living thing rooted in cold machinery isn't a contradiction.
